The Fellowship of the American American Academy of Artificial Intelligence in Dentistry (FAAAID) is the Academy’s highest professional honor. It recognizes members who have made sustained, evidence-based contributions to dental AI through research, education, clinical leadership, and service to the Academy.
FAAAID Fellows represent integrity, scientific rigor, and a commitment to responsible, patient-centered innovation. They serve as ambassadors for trustworthy and clinically meaningful AI in dentistry.

Eligibility Requirements
1. Continuous Membership
- At least three consecutive years of active AAAI-D membership
2. Scholarly Contribution
Applicants must meet one of the following:
Standard Pathway
- Three peer-reviewed publications directly related to AI in dentistry or health AI
Hybrid Pathway
- Two peer-reviewed AI publications, plus one of the following:
- Invited lecture at a national or international meeting
- Completed project in AI validation, curriculum development, clinical integration, or decision-support evaluation
- Leadership role in AI educational development
3. Service to the Academy
At least one of the following:
- Service on an AAAI-D committee (minimum one year)
- Reviewing CE modules or educational materials
- Leading an Academy project, initiative, or workshop
- Representing AAAI-D as a speaker or panelist (approved in advance)
4. Demonstrated Commitment to Responsible AI
Examples include:
- Local validation and safety
- Evidence-based clinical integration
- Fairness, transparency, and bias awareness
- Patient-centered communication
- Ethical, non-promotional teaching or writing
5. Letters of Support
Applicants must provide:
- Two recommendation letters from current AAAI-D members in good standing
(No Fellow recommendation required)
Application Process
- Submit the Fellowship Application Form
- Upload CV, publications, and supporting documents
- Provide two member letters
- Application reviewed by the Fellowship Committee
- Final approval by the AAAI-D Board
- Issuance of certificate and public listing
Fellowship Term and Renewal
FAAAID is awarded for a three-year term.
To maintain active status, Fellows must:
- Keep AAAI-D membership current
- Submit a short renewal form documenting continued scholarly or service activity
- Remain in ethical good standing
- Pay the Fellowship renewal fee established by the Academy
Fellowship becomes inactive if not renewed within six months of expiration.
